DIRECTOR OF THE WOMEN AND PUBLIC POLICY PROGRAM AT HARVARD'S KENNEDY SCHOOL TO GIVE A KEYNOTE ADDRESS AT AFRICAN FIRST LADIES SUMMIT ON HIV/AIDS

Kigali, Rwanda - Ambassador Swanee Hunt, Director of the Women and Public Policy Program at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, will deliver a keynote address at the summit of First Ladies of sub-Saharan Africa on children and HIV/AIDS prevention taking place in Kigali, Rwanda on May 20 - 22, 2001.

Nearly 30 wives of African presidents will convene for a two-day conference at the National Assembly to explore interventions that are specific to Africa. Ambassador Hunt will take part in a discussion on ways to mitigate the causes and effects of HIV/AIDS as well as identify strategies that will ensure the protection of women and children in situations of armed conflict.
