Policy Day 2001

On November 16, 2001, some 100 policy shapers joined the Women Waging Peace delegates for our third annual Policy Day. Key players from the United Nations and other international organizations, US State Department, US Agency for International Development (USAID), non-governmental organizations, foundations, and foreign governments listened to the experiences and expertise of the delegates and discussed issues relating to women and peace building. This year the working group discussions focused recommendations for the inclusion of women in peace processes and international security policy. Ultimately, specific recommendations and action steps based upon these discussions will be generated, and Waging staff and delegates are developing implementation strategies in concert with policy shapers.
