Her Majesty Queen Noor of Jordan and Inclusive Security: Women Waging Peace Experts Meeting in Sarajevo

Her Majesty Queen Noor and twenty women peace builders met with domestic government representatives and international policymakers from the UN, EC, OSCE, and foreign embassies in Bosnia and Herzegovina for an Experts Meeting on June 10th in Sarajevo. During this meeting, the women leaders and policy shapers discussed the current situation in Bosnia, identified potential areas of collaboration, and suggested concrete steps of action.

The women leaders in attendance included Waging member Selma Hadzihalilovic, along with Vildana Selimbegovic and Dragica Levi, participants in the Bosnia Interfaith Initiative. Other women leaders included Dr. Tatjana Ljuljic, a former member of the Presidency; Dr. Azra Hadziahmnetovic, Minister of Trade, Dr. Mediha Filipovic, Member of Parliament, Nermina Boljic, Deputy Chair of the Party of Democratic Action; Dr. Kadija Haracic, Deputy Minister for Human Rights and Refugees; and Bisera Turkovic, former ambassador to the OSCE, Chair of the Bosnia Task Force at the Stabilization Pact for South Eastern Europe. Other participants included: Darko Osmanovic and Esad Numic, Ombdusmen for Bosnia Herzegovina, Beriz Belikic, Member of the Presidency; Mirza Hajric, Counselor for International Relations; Dr. Sonja Moser Starrachj, Head of the European Parliament Mission to Bosnia Herzegovina, Vincent Coundry, Deputy Chief of Mission of the UN in Bosnia Herzegovina and others.

In addition to the Experts Meeting, Her Majesty Queen Noor met with Waging members in the post-Yugoslav region and women religious leaders who participated in the "Interfaith Coalitions: A New Resource for Bosnia" conferences in Cambridge and Sarajevo this February and March. Her Majesty traveled across the Balkans during the week and used every public opportunity to profile the work that Waging is doing, both regionally and globally.
